The federal government has threatened to revoke the sale of residential quarters belonging to the Ministry of Interior in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

The affected property is the Ikoyi liaison residential quarters of the ministry. In 2020, the Federal Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), commissioned an agent to identify and recover possession of landed properties belonging to the federal government that are currently being used and occupied by unauthorised persons.

Although details of the sale, including the date and buyer, were not disclosed, the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, expressed the government’s determination to recover the property.

Speaking during a tour of some ministry facilities in Lagos, the minister promised to set up a panel to investigate the activities of the director who approved the sale of the quarters.

During his visit to the Federal Marriage Registry, Immigration Service, and Ikoyi Correctional Centre, the minister hinted at the ministry’s intention to relocate the Ikoyi Correctional Centre from its present location.
