FG tasked on sustainability of pediatric HIV programmes

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), an international organization, has enjoined the federal government, implementing states and other stakeholders to sustain  programmes that have made impacts on  the diagnosis,  prevention and treatment of  pediatric  HIV in the country. 

Country Manager of the foundation, Dr. Nguavese Torbunde made the call Sunday in Abuja during the end-of-project dissemination meeting of three projects geared towards tackling pediatric HIV in Rivers, Taraba and other states.

Torbunde said amazing results were recorded from the three projects which comprise EID Point of Care project, the Pediatric breakthrough partnership phase one, and the Delta2 AP3.

The National Coordinator, National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP) Dr Adebobola Bashorun said the government will work towards domesticating the EID Optimization Toolkit at national and state levels. 

“The EID Optimization Toolkit is positioned as a valuable resource, addressing not only EID programme indicators but also enhancing overall care for mothers, infants, and families. Early outcomes showcase positive impacts on program indicators, affirming the toolkit’s effectiveness”, he said.
