The Zamfara State governor Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari said the N57 billion owed Zamfara by the federal government was yet to be refunded.

The governor stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Emir of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammad Mokwashe Isah at his palace on Wednesday.

Yari was in the palace to pay homage to the emir at the start of APC campaign rallies in Shinkafi and Zurmi local government areas.

He said the money was a refund of the amount state government spent for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of federal roads in the state in the last seven years.

He said if the money was paid back it would be used to complete ongoing and abandoned projects in the state.

Yari said he was deeply worried at rampant activities of armed bandits in the state and prayed that those behind the acts would be exposed irrespective of their positions for prosecution.

He urged people of the state, particularly the affected communities, to remain calm and report any strange movement to security agencies for prompt action.

“I am sure some bad eggs in our society are conniving with these groups and we are working round the clock with federal, state and security agencies to maintain peace in the state.’’

Governor Yari called on traditional rulers in the state to cooperate with all the relevant stakeholders in order to bring the wanton killings of innocent people to an end.

The emir of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammad Mokwashe Isah, in his response, urged the governor to renovate the primary healthcare centre and the secondary school as well as complete roads in the town before the end of his tenure.
