The federal government and stakeholders in the health sector Tuesday harped on the need for accelerated efforts towards preventing new HIV infections in the country.

They stated this during the 2024 Nigeria HIV Prevention Conference, organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) in Abuja. The conference was themed ‘Accelerating HIV prevention to end AIDS through innovations and community engagement.’

The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the popular saying ‘prevention is better than cure’ is particularly true for HIV/AIDS as its prevention today would lead to its eradication tomorrow.
