Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has called on the federal government to take decisive steps toward disarming violent herders.
Governor Okowa who addressed stakeholders meeting of herders, farmers, community leaders and heads of security agencies in Asaba, yesterday said his administration would not provide land for cattle colonies in any part of the state.
As part of interim measures to address the perennial clash amongst herders, farmers and host communities, Okowa said local government chairmen should set up a special task force on security comprising the necessary interest groups within one week.
The commissioner of Police, Delta state command, Mr. Muhammad Alhaji Mustafa assured Deltans that their security will not be compromised by the Police in ensuring peaceful co-existence in the state.
