The Minister of Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, has Ogoni leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) on the ongoing cleanup exercise in the area.
He was addressing community leaders, youths, women groups and other stakeholders at Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State during an inspection visit to project sites in Ogoniland,

The minister promised to address some of the concerns of the communities.
He said: “We need your cooperation for HYPREP to be able to employ the youths as environmental surveillance officers.
“We want to work with the women groups, we want more indigenous people to acquire the skills for the cleanup so that we would not be doing this over and over again.”
King JNK Giniwa of Tai Kingdom asked the Federal Government to work on the proposed university of environment for Ogoniland as it would help educate the people and put them in a better position to assist the community.
