The Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Professor Segun Ajiboye, has said that schools must henceforth employ certified teachers who are proficient in modern technology.
To this end, he said faculties of education and colleges of education have to review their curriculum to include technology driven training.
Ajiboye, who noted that COVID-19 has thrown up a challenge for a paradigm shift in the way teachers are trained and the way knowledge is acquired, stated this shortly after featuring on a Radio Programme in Ibadan.
According to him, the post-COVID-19 reality is that Nigeria must invest in online technology to drive her education system, adding that the world will not wait for Nigeria.
While noting that TRCN already started digital literacy for teachers in 2018, Ajiboye added that a proposal is already before the Federal Ministry of Education to increase beneficiaries.
