The Federal Government has provided relief materials to the victims of the fire disaster at the Sokoto Central Market named after late President Shehu Shagari.
The materials include building materials and assorted food items.
The Assistant Chief Relief and Rehabilitation Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ajayi Oluwatope, stated that President Muhammadu Buhari was deeply touched by the incident and had directed the distribution of interim assistance to the victims pending the outcome of the ongoing investigations.
“The materials have started arriving Sokoto and many are on the way. I assured you that by next week, distribution will commence,” he said.
The Special Adviser to Gov. Aminu Tambuwal on State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Zubairu Albadau, thanked President Buhari on behalf of the state government while commiserating with those affected by the fire incident.
