Chairman, Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has presented a letter of protest to the Ambassador of Cote D’ivoire to Nigeria, Traore Kallilou, over the sudden and mysterious death of Itunu Babalola, a Nigerian serving a 20-year imprisonment in Côte D’ivoire for alleged human trafficking. She died in the hospital on Sunday from complications from diabetes.
The letter requested a detailed account of Itunu’s death.

Gabriel Odu of Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, NIDCOM, in a statement yesterday said Nigeria demanded full autopsy and justice surrounding the circumstances that led to Itunu’s death.
Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to always be good ambassadors of Nigeria by obeying the laws of their host countries, use their real identity in whatever they do and register their presence in Nigerian missions in their places of residence.
Kallilou pledged that the incident would be investigated and autopsy report monitored and published forthwith.
It would be recalled that Itunu’s house in Abidjan was burgled and in her bid to get justice, she took the case to the police for proper investigation.
In filing the case, she used Miss Becky Paul instead of her real name, Itunu Babalola. The case turned against her as she was later accused of human trafficking.
