The federal government has approved the promotion of 1,583 senior civil servants in the federal civil service under the 2019 Directorate Level promotion/evaluation exercise.
This is contained in a circular by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) No: FC.6243/GOV/2019/VOL.ll/104 dated March 17, 2020 titled, “Promotion of Officers on SGL 14 to 15, SGL 15 to 16 and SGL16 to 17 in the Federal Civil Service with effect from January 1,2019”.
The circular was signed by the commission’s new Chairman, Dr. Tukur Bello Ingawa, who resumed duty in December 2018.
The FCSC, which is the agency responsible for recruiting and promoting federal workers, conducted the promotion examination in 2019 for both professional and administrative cadres in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for them to be promoted to the next levels.
The spokesperson of the FCSC, Mrs. Felicia Eniola Babaoye, told Daily Trust Wednesday in Abuja that the release of the promotion list is an indication of the federal government’s commitment to the welfare of workers and efficiency of the federal work force.
Those on SGL 15 are assistant directors, those on SGL 16 are deputy directors and those on SGL 17 are directors.
The officers affected are administrative officers, librarians, physicians, chief medical officers, programme analysts, nursing officers, medical records officers, education officers, optometrists, chief dental officers, physiotherapists, social welfare officers, state counsels, information officers, tourism officers, industrial officers, scientific officers, procurement officers, commercial officers, statisticians and computer engineers among others.
