The Federal Government on Thursday redeemed its pledge of a house to the family of the late Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr James Ocholi.
Ocholi, his wife and a son died in a road accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on March 6, 2016.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), Mr Olusegun Adekunle, said the gesture was in fulfillment of a promise by the government to the surviving children.
“It is a promise kept by the Federal Government,” he said.
Mr Adekunle said the government made three promises to the family during the burial ceremonies, scholarship for the children in school, employment for graduates among them and presentation of a befitting house for them in Abuja.
He said the promises were made by the President in recognition of diligent service to the country by the late minister.
Receiving the document of the property on behalf of his family, a son of the late minister, Mr. Aaron Ocholi, commended the government for keeping to the promise.
He said the development has lifted a huge burden on the children two of whom are still in school, to have a place to stay to call their own.
The four bedroom terrace house is located inside Flower Gate Estate, along Apo Resettlement, Abuja.
