The federal government has assured the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB) of its commitment to strengthening the bureau’s operation by ensuring that the needed legislative framework is put in place.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, gave the assurance, on Thursday in Abuja, when the management team of the NDPB led by its National Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, Vincent O. Olatunji, visited him in his office.

Mustapha, in a statement by the Director of Information in his office, Willie Bassey, lamented the fraudulent activities of scammers using unauthorized means to access the data of citizens, saying with NDPB, the era of data theft would be a thing of the past.

Earlier, Olatunji said the visit was to acquaint the SGF with the activities of the bureau and to seek collaboration with his office toward the implementation of a robust data protection regulation in Nigeria.
