The federal government has expressed its readiness to partner with Borno State towards repatriating Nigeria refugees in Chad, Niger and Cameroon.
The UNHCR said as of November 30, 2022, the number of Nigerians taking refuge in Niger Republic had risen to 187,130; 132,151 in Cameroon and 20,388 in Chad.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum, in Maiduguri.
Yilwatda, said the refugees would be repatriated ahead of the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Response Plan aimed at providing durable solutions to people affected by crises across the country.

“Borno is the main state experiencing a humanitarian crisis in Nigeria. We aim to partner with the state government to ensure its inclusion in the national response plan.
Responding, Zulum emphasised the need to return the refugees before the rainy season, and to accept the Internally Displaced back to their ancestral homes in a dignified manner.
