The Federal Ministry of Transportation in partnership with Nigerian Police and other relevant stakeholders have developed a technological based transport security system that will see all road transport operators in Nigeria captured on common user data base.

Beyond generating database, the technology will also curtail the menace of road transport related crimes such as kidnapping, ‘one chance’ assault and touting in our Motor Parks.

The project is being driven by the Committee for Transport short code *735# and Transport Social Media (TSM) recently inaugurated by the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi.

The Committee members are drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, State Security Service (SSS), Nigerian Road Safety Commission, Nigerian Civil Defence and Safety Corps, Nigeria Fire Service, Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Association of Commercial Motor Cycle Owners and Repairs of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) and Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owner (NARTO).

Others are; Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and Representative of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

The Director, Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration in the Ministry, DR. Anthony A. Ekpa is the Chairperson of the Committee.
