The federal government has given warning of possible massive flooding in 102 local government areas across 28 states of the federation.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk, gave the warning on Wednesday in Gombe when she paid a courtesy call on Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

She said she was in the state to distribute palliatives to the less privileged to cushion the effect of COVID-19 and victims of the recent flood that wreaked havoc in some parts of the state.
She said the Annual Flood Outlook document has forecasted flood situation for different parts of the country, where 102 LGAs in 28 states of the country fall within the high probable risk areas.
Governor Yahaya said apart from flooding, the state is also prone to erosion and desert encroachment due to massive deforestation through the cutting of trees.
In Yola, the Minister presented assorted grains from the national food reserve as palliatives to 59,338 vulnerable households during the peak of COVID-19 in Adamawa State.
Secretary to the State Government, Bashir Ahmad lauded federal government’s intervention and requested for the completion of the abandoned Churchi dam project in Yola South and North local government to help curtail flood in the state.
