The federal government has inaugurated the National Bio-Security Advisory Council and the Technical Working Group ( TWG) to Fast-track the implementation of the bio-security policy and Action Plan over the next five years.
The committees were inaugurated Saturday by the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) in collaboration with the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) in Abuja.
The Director-General of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), Dr Agnes Asagbara said she would ensure that the bio-security policy and Action Plan come to realisation , and that Nigeria becomes a biosecure nation.
She called for the cooperation and commitment of all stakeholders to make Nigeria a top country in biosecurity, food security , animal health security, and the environment among others.

The Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, called on development partners to key in and support the government in implementing the national biosecurity policy and action plan.
He said there was a need to strengthen coordination, governance and leadership towards the implementation of the policy and plan.
