Minister of Power, Sale Maman flagged off an Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Training for 500 youths in Jalingo, Saturday.
The training is under the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project (MHEPP) Local Content initiative in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN).
Maman said the training was to provide the manpower needs so that the host community and the entire state will derive maximum benefits from the Hydropower project.
He said the training was designed to train and empower 500 youths from each state of the federation starting with Taraba.
The minister stated further that the training would be carried out under five core courses which include Electrical House Wiring, ICT Essentials, Catering Management, Masonry and Bricklaying and Plumbing, Pipelifting for Plants and Buildings.
Governor Darius Ishaku who was represented by his deputy Alhaji Haruna Manu, commended President Buhari for his commitment towards the implementation of the 3050 KW Mambilla Hydroelectric Project.
He however called for an increase in the number of youths to be trained from Taraba State since it is in the state the power project is sited while he urged beneficiaries to take advantage of the training programme.
