The federal government has distributed over 8,000 bags of assorted grains to less privileged people in Gombe State.
Flagging off the distribution yesterday in Gombe, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, explained that the gesture was an effort by the government to alleviate hunger among the vulnerable population.

He said the food items would be distributed across the nation to the poorest citizens, under a scheme initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Pantami said a total of 8,228 bags of grains which included maize, millet, guinea corn and garri would be distributed to the vulnerable groups across 11 local government areas of the state.
He added that a committee comprising of emirs, religious groups and community leaders would oversee the sharing of the food items to deserving people in the state.
He urged the distributors to be just and fair while sharing the grains, “so that the aim which is to bring succour to the less privileged members of the society will be achieved.”
Pantami said, “Therefore, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, I am handing over these food items to you for onward distribution to the vulnerable population.”
