FG disburses N18m to 1,799 CCT beneficiaries

No fewer than 1,799 persons have benefitted from the federal government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme to the tune of N18 million in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

CCT is one of the four Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) rolled out by the present administration aimed at alleviating the suffering of the less privileged.

Under the programme, each of the beneficiaries from three wards of the council got N10,000. The benefitting wards include Balangu, Dumadumi and Gafaya.

The Coordinator of the SIP in the local council, Umar Aliko, said the gesture was aimed at improving the lives of the beneficiaries and lifting the most vulnerable groups in the society out of poverty.

The Information Officer of the council, Muhammad Umar, who disclosed this in a statement at the weekend, quoted Aliko as saying that the programme was designed to deliver timely cash transfer to the beneficiaries and support development.

While encouraging the beneficiaries to engage in petty business and improve their already established small scale businesses, he commended the state and local governments for their support and cooperation towards the successful execution of the programme in the council.
