FG commissions CNG conversion, training centre in Kano

The federal government has commissioned a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centre in Gundutse, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

Speaking at the commissioning on Monday, Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, the Director General and Chief Executive of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, said the establishment of the centre would enhance CNG conversion and provide training for auto mechanics in the conversion process.

He noted that out of 21 CNG conversion centres planned across the country, 15 have been fully equipped, with the remaining centres expected to be completed soon.

Osanipin urged trainees to seize the opportunity to learn CNG conversion skills, emphasising the importance of achieving the desired goals for the initiative.

Engineer Magaji Sani, the President of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), appealed to the federal government for soft loans to help association members purchase necessary tools for engine assembly.

The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka Anite, reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to creating job opportunities for Nigeria’s youth.

She described the establishment of CNG conversion centres across the country as a testament to President Tinubu’s dedication to alleviating the challenges faced by Nigerians due to fuel subsidy removal.

Dr. Anite urged Kano residents to take full advantage of the opportunity for skill development and economic improvement.
