‘FG collaborating with states to develop mining sector’

The Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has said the Federal Government is collaborating with state governments to develop the mining sector.

Ogah said this on Wednesday in an interview session with select journalist in Abuja to mark his one year in office alongside the senior Minister Arch. Olamilekan Adegbite.

“You can never imagine that many State governments never knew they have 13% derivation from revenue of minerals that are mined in their states. Governors are getting agitated to invest in the mining sector. There is this dawning that the mining sector is the next solution to the oil sector.” he said.

The Minister also said the Federal Government through the Ministry is attracting a lot of investors from the private sector.

“Today, we are attracting a lot of investors from the private sector as well. One thing with the private sector is that when they have credible people at the helm of affairs, you see investors want to come. So we are seeing investors calling and saying they want to be part of mining in Nigeria.
