The federal government has urged civil servants to improve their output at work as it has concluded plans to monitor their performance digitally.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, said this yesterday in Abuja at a meeting of stakeholders on the implementation of a modern Performance Management System (PMS) in the federal public service.
She said an end-to-end automation process would be deployed to track performance.
Dr Yemi-Esan regretted that the civil service had been tagged “redundant, ineffective, inefficient and not meeting up to its standards”, hence the need for the narrative to change.

She said that Executive Order 012 signed recently in October by President Muhammadu Buhari was meant to drive the institutionalisation of PMS.
She noted that Kenya, which began the institutionalisation process at the same time as Nigeria, had already moved ahead.
While charging permanent secretaries to drive the process, Yemi-Esan said, “The PMS is coming to replace the annual performance evaluation system. This is to ensure that employee performance is linked to institutional goals and objectives.
“We must not fail to understand that the delivery of government’s policies is critically dependent on employees delivering on their various objectives.”
