FG approves N6.25bn for cattle ranch in Katsina

The federal government has approved the sum of N6.25 billion for the development of cattle ranch in Katsina State.

The state’s Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, disclosed this during the commissioning of the Zobe regional water project in the state.

“Mr President has graciously approved the sum of N6.25 billion for ranch development purposes in Katsina State. Out of this money, N5 billion is already in the account of the state government and within few weeks, you will see an advertisement calling for interested companies and consultants that would wish to participate.

“Let me use this opportunity to tell the people of Katsina State that President Buhari has them in his mind. This is the first direct intervention, through the state government with regards to ranch development in the country” he said.

Masari further explained that the Zobe water project was part of the agreement the federal government had entered with the state in October 2017 to boost water supply and address water scarcity, adding that the federal government had completed its part of the project.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has called on members of the National Assembly to pass the National Water Resources Bill before them.

He maintained that the passage of the bill would improve the availability of potable water and promote personal hygiene and sanitation.

Buhari also called on various state governments to collaborate with the federal government in ensuring that people have access to potable water.

The President also commissioned Dutsinma-Tsaskiya-Babban Duhu-Kukar Samu road was constructed by Katsina State Government.
