The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) says it is carrying out comprehensive rehabilitation works on some failed and critical portions of the Abuja-Keffi dual carriageway.
Managing Director of the agency Engr. Nurudeen Rafindadi, stated this while inspecting ongoing repair works by his men from the Mogadishu Cantonment Bridge to Mararaba stretch of the road.
The FERMA boss who was represented by the Road Maintenance Engineer in charge of the FCT, Engr. Ambrose Omame, said the current road rehabilitation programme is part of the nationwide exercise announced by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, in December 2018 at the presidential villa after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
On why the agency is carrying out the work at night, he explained that, “with the nature of the ever-busy road any attempt to carry out such comprehensive work during day will amount to punishing the residents.”
The work currently going on includes the removal of failed portions on the Kugbo slope and the immediate laying of fresh asphalt.
