A female undergraduate student of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, Abiodun Olabisi, has stabbed her boyfriend, Adegun Lekan, to death.

The victim, a fresh graduate of Transport Management at the same institution was waiting for his call-up letter for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) before the unfortunate incident occurred.

The Oyo state Police Commissioner, Abiodun Odude, who paraded the culprit  at a press conference in Ibadan on Wednesday said the incident happened following a quarrel arising from petty jealousy.

According to Odude, the duo were cohabiting in usual students’ tradition of ‘trial marriage’ at Phoenix area, Stadium Road in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

Also paraded were a bricklayer, Daniel Segun, who robbed the students’ hostels at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, and Aremu Mayowa, an undergraduate of the same institution, who was arrested for rape and social media fraud.

Others are two-man armed robbery gang, Waris Lukman and Sodiq Olabode who were stealing motorcycles in Olomi area of the state, while another internet fraudster, Abiodun David, was nabbed for placing fake online advertisement to defraud people.

Odude said the state police command is committed to ensuring unprecedented onslaught on criminal elements in the state.

He noted that the state police command is depleting the ranks of criminals through intelligence-based raid of identified criminal hideouts and intensive vehicle patrol of entry and exit points in the state.

“The clampdown on criminal elements will be sustained beyond the yuletide and the general election periods. This is to ensure the sustainability of the relative peace for the electorate, candidates, INEC Staff and other participants involved in the electoral process,” he said.
