Cosmetic surgery has now become the new norm for many celebrities. Many celebrities have now gone under the knife in a bid to get the body they so deeply desire. In this magazine feature, Daily Trust Saturday highlights the Nigerian celebrities who have undergone cosmetic surgery.

Tonto Dikeh

When a video of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh’s post-surgery moments went viral, the internet went buzzing with comments. After the procedure, Tonto Dikeh told BBC Pidgin that she felt a lot more secure.

In the 3.25-minute video, Tonto said, “Brazilian Butt Lift: My bum-bum dey give me confidence,”

She made it clear that she didn’t do it to woo anyone; rather, she did it to boost her self-esteem and make clothes fit her well.

Later, during the BBC Pidgin interview, she provided additional details regarding the reasons she underwent the procedure: “You go just dey like yourself. You just be happy and say na me be dis, see as my shape dey,” she said, speaking about the perks of her plastic surgery.

The actress recently disclosed via a video on her Instagram page that she had undergone her third liposuction procedure.

She said she had been making an effort to lose her “stubborn” belly fat, adding that “it has not been easy.”

Caroline Danjuma

Actress and businesswoman, Caroline Danjuma, was one of the first individuals to have surgery. The mother of three underwent a complete body makeover just before it was disclosed that she and her wealthy husband, Musa Danjuma, had separated. Caroline underwent boob surgery, the Brazilian butt lift, and liposuction.

Toke Makinwa

The bestselling author, television host, and radio host has never been shy about having surgery. She obtained lip filler procedures as well, which were still exceedingly uncommon in this part of the world at the time, in addition to the butt lift procedure.

In response to a question about the procedures in 2020, Toke stated that she had just had her fibroids removed and wanted the curvy appearance to feel more at ease in clothing.

During a Q&A session on her Vlog “Toke Moments,” she revealed that she had undergone the procedure. She said: “Yes, I worked on my body, but my breasts are natural. I had a lip filler because I wanted to launch my lipstick brand. Also, I enhanced my body after I got my fibroids removed. I did that because I wanted to feel better in clothes. I do not regret enhancing my body because it’s the best thing I’ve ever done, and I wanted to look curvy, and I love it.”

Iyabo Ojo

Yoruba actress Iyabo Ojo underwent a cosmetic surgery in 2017. The actress acknowledges undergoing surgery for a flat stomach claiming that she did this merely to regain her self-confidence.

The beautiful mother of two argued that as long as it makes them comfortable, people have the freedom to do anything they want with their bodies.

Mercy Eke

Mercy Eke, popularly called Mery Lambo, the Big Brother Pepper Dem season 2019 winner, has also undergone cosmetic surgery. She revealed it on a recent edition of “Tea with Tay,” saying that she underwent the procedure to improve her confidence and attractiveness.

The reality personality initially acknowledged it during a Mercy & Ike episode where she also discussed her thoughts on cosmetic surgery.

She claimed that she didn’t mind if people called her “silicon body”.

She said; “I don’t have a problem when people say I have a silicon body. They are so ignorant; they don’t know the difference between silicone and liposuction. It doesn’t get to me because I’m still going to enhance my body if I want to.”

Nengi Hampson

Nengi Hampson is another TV celebrity who acknowledged getting liposuction to enlarge her butt. She acknowledged having the operation in a post-BBNaija interview because she was self-conscious about her body and wanted to feel more confident.

In a conversation with BBNaija housemate, Ozo, she said, “I have always wanted to do surgery because I felt like I had a really big stomach. I did liposuction, but I only removed fat from my stomach. I feel if you are not confident about something and you can change it, then do it. I always had to wear a waist trainer, and it was really stressful for me.”

She did not express any remorse for her decision, unlike many celebrities who got the procedure; in fact, she made it clear that her only regret is that she did not blog about her procedure.
