There was tension in Modakeke town on Tuesday after a woman and her son were killed on their farm which angered youths in the town.
It was gathered that the female farmer and her son went to their farm at Alapata village and that unknown person murdered them in the farm.
The corpses of the woman and her son were brought home from the farm and youth in the town gathered to riot over the incident.
The timely intervention of the Divisional Police Officers in Modakeke and Ife Divisional Police Headquarters doused the tension and prevented the youths from embarking on riot.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state Police Command, Yemisi Opalola said the corpses of the woman and her son have been deposited at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
Opalola assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators would be apprehended and prosecuted
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ismail Omipidan, said proactive measures had been put in place to prevent the breakdown of law and order in the area.
