Tension is high in the Opume community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State over the alleged killing of a 39-year-old farmer, Waadu Alfred, by suspected herders.
Sources in the community told newsmen that the family of the deceased became apprehensive when she did not return from the farm over the weekend, prompting a search party for her.

City & Crime learnt that her decomposed body was found tied to a tree with machete cuts and signs that suggest she was raped before being killed.
Her death sparked protest as women and youths of the Opume community trooped out to major roads linking Ogbia to Nembe Local Government Area protesting the killing.
The leadership of the council had deployed policemen to restore order while the elders of the community sued for peace to allow police investigation.
The police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, saying investigation is ongoing.
