The Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu on Thursday matriculated 1,415 students for the 2018/2019 academic session.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony in Damaturu, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Usman M. Kallamu, advised them take advantage of the admission and set a moral and academic standard for themselves.
“This admission is a unique opportunity to strive for and attain higher academic laurels and arm yourselves for a productive life and a challenge to live a moral and upright life,” he said.
He noted that of the total of 1,415 students matriculated, 962 are National Diploma students, while 453 are Higher National Diploma students, cutting across fifteen academic departments of the institution.
He thanked the Almighty God for the relative peace in Yobe, northeast and the country at large, while urging the students, lecturers and everyone to be security conscious and avoid any act that would threaten peace in the society.
