The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved $53,131,128.93 plus onshore component of N2,127,068,626.45 for procurement and reinstallation of electricity conductors that would help boost power supply in the country.
The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, said this would address the challenge of constant tripping of circuit breakers due to overloading of electricity lines.
He said the new conductors, to be ready in 12 months, would be used to upgrade existing power lines to enhance their efficiency.

Aliyu listed the four components of the contracts initiated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria as including 173km Kubotso-Hadejia line; 105km Kumbotso-Kankiya line; 90km Benin-Irrua line; 72km Irrua-Okpella; 48km Okpella-Okenne; 58km Okenna-Ajaokuta lines and 394km Gombe-Biu-Damboa-Maiduguri lines.
The minister said the FEC also approved a N1.46bn contract to Msssrs B’s Fill Nigeria Limited for procurement of 20 transformer tones racial analyzers for the TCN.
