The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N92,123,175,305.77 for the construction of a second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The approval came 24 hours after the inauguration of the new terminal building at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, announced this Wednesday while addressing State House reporters after the federal cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the entire sum would be spread over a number of works to be carried out at the airport over a period of twelve months.
Sirika, while reacting to a question on the source of funding for the project, said the administration would use same pattern it had used to raise money for all of its other projects across sectors to achieve the new task.
The minister said the contract was divided into five lots and would be completed in 12 months.
