At least three businessmen have been abducted from their business places in Lagos in the last two months.
Daily Trust investigation revealed that with the recent spike in abductions most businessmen have resorted to recruiting private guards.
Just last month, armed men abducted the owner of Globus Conglomerate in Okota and the family claimed they paid about N100m as ransom.
Again, last week, the armed men struck and abducted the owner of an eatery, simply identified as Nobis, on Governor’s Road in the Ikotun area.
Before then, a businessman identified as Chimex and three others were kidnapped and kept in captivity until each of them paid N4m before they were released.
Chimex declined to be interviewed by our correspondent for fear of being targeted again.
But his friends alleged that while negotiations for their release were ongoing, the kidnapping syndicate struck again at Bucknor Estate in Ejigbo and kidnapped the owner of Solid Rang Hotel close to Grandmate Bus Stop in Ijegun.
The same story played out in Igando, Idimu, Gowon Estate in Egbeda and the Agege areas of, where victims were kidnapped and forced to pay huge ransoms.
Reacting to the situation on phone, Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the command was not aware of any of the cases.
