The Education Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced the resumption of schools on January 18th 2021, assuring that non-pharmaceutical protocols will be complied with to ensure safety of students and staff.

A statement by Kabiru Musa, Assistant Director in the secretariat said “after a comprehensive appraisal of the situation and extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, the FCT Education Secretariat has directed all schools in FCT to resume accordingly while emphasizing on total compliance with Covid-19 protocols and school resumption guidelines and checklist earlier released for FCT schools.”

The statement quoted the Ag. Secretary/ Director, Administration and Finance, Mallam Leramoh Abdulrazaq saying that the secretariat has made the safety of the staff and students a priority as they return to schools for the new academic session after the festive break.

He assured that necessary modalities are worked out for safe resumption amidst the second wave of COVID-19.

Abdulrazaq, therefore, directed schools authorities to leave no stone unturned to ensure staff and students complied to all laid down rules and regulations while making use of all items provided already and close every gaps for the commencement of full academic activities in the schools.

He added that further arrangements have been concluded for regular school monitoring and inspection by the Department of Quality Assurance and Other Monitoring units of the various boards under the secretariat.
