FCT rep tasks N/Assembly members on grassroots development

A member of the House of Representatives representing Abuja South Federal Constituency, Hassan Sokodabo, has urged members of the National Assembly to embark on direct institutional development in the rural areas.

He urged his colleagues at the National Assembly to reach out to the people at the grassroots because they formed the majority of the electorate that put them in their current elected positions.

Sokodabo made the call yesterday in Abuja at a medical outreach across four of the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where he donated healthcare equipment worth over N39m to primary healthcare centres in Gawu in Abaji, Tsauni in Gwagwalada, Dabi in Kwali and Chikuku in Kuje.

He said that the aim of the project was to provide quality healthcare in rural areas.

He listed beds, generators, fridges, drugs, chairs, among other things, as part of the supplies to the healthcare centres in the beneficiary councils.

The coordinator and consultant of the medical outreach, Joshua Adetunji, said over 3000 persons had benefitted from the medical outreaches.

“We came with the knowledge that there are lots of illnesses such as Malaria, stomach problems, fever, ulcer and to some cases that even involve surgical intervention and we have treated them,” he said.
