The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner, CP Babaji Sunday, has ordered investigations into an allegation of extortion reported by one Miss Odigie Ofure Natasha, at the Kubwa Divisional Headquarters of the FCT.

A statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Ade, said the commissioner has equally directed the command’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to take over the ongoing investigations by the Kubwa Division into the complaint of fraudulent withdrawal of N1.3m reported by Angel against one Frank (other names unknown).

She said preliminary investigations by the command revealed that no police operative at the Kubwa division extorted the sum of N180,000 from Odigie Ofure Natasha as fee for tracking the suspect, Frank, contrary to false report making the rounds in some sections of the media.

She said the CP, while reiterating that the command under his watch will not tolerate any form of extortion or violation of rights and privileges of the citizens, promised that the right thing would be done in the matter.

She said the command enjoined members of the public to take advantage of the mechanism already in place by the command to report any unprofessional conduct by police officers in the command by reaching out through the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) line: 09022222352.
