Police operatives said to be from the FCT Police Command have arrested a local sports organiser in the Dei-Dei area of Abuja, Ali Zuma, as well as about 30 others including fans from two centres. A resident, Auwal Bala, said a police team arrived at the local sports centre, popularly known as Gidan Dambe and arrested Ali Zuma in the evening of last Thursday, and is still in detention as at Wednesday.
He said his driver, one Muhammad, was also arrested but later freed after Zuma’s intervention, who insisted that the man should not be included in a case that was meant for him alone.
City & Crime further learnt that the police returned to the community on Friday night where no fewer than 30 fun seekers were arrested from the Gidan Dambe and an adjacent centre, known as Gidan Drama.
Contacted, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, S.P Josephine Adeh, promised to make an inquiry and revert. She was however yet to do so as at the time of filing this report Wednesday.
