FCT: New ANAN chairman emerges

Shavah Elisha Andrew has emerged chairman of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) FCT 1 Abuja branch.

He succeeds Wahab Shina Omoniyi whose tenure just came to an end.

Shavah Andrew scored 241 in the virtual poll in Abuja where over 330 members of the branch participated from across the country.

His only challenger, Barde Victoria Bulus, came behind with 136 votes.

In his remarks shortly after inauguration, he said there is neither victor nor vanquished in the exercise, noting that the branch remains one united family.

“We are here to serve you, your priority is our priority, your purpose is our purpose and together we can achieve more.

“I want to reiterate that, all hands will be on deck to achieve our desired goal. Let’s work as one family. Those who couldn’t make it this time, there is always another opportunity in future, we cannot all be executive members at the same time,” he said.

Andrew also promised to be guided by the professional code of ethics, discipline and good conduct during his leadership.

The immediate past chairman, Wahab Shina Omoniyi, thanked members for the support offered him during his tenure, appealing to them to back the new leadership to succeed.

Other officials elected include, Salamatu Yahaya Afegbua vice chairman; Oyedele John Kehinde, Secretary; Caroline Etu Omonokhua, Treasurer; Ogunsola Akintunde, Secretary ; Augustine Doris Oluchukwu, Financial Secretary; Fyada Edward, Publicity/Welfare Secretary and Allan Tsaku, Ex-officio 2.
