Some groups in the transport and accident prevention sector have called on the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammed Bello to constitute a committee on road transport/safety to review the policy on operation in the FCT.
The groups are: Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative, Bywaysafety Global Services, Saphire Dynamic Solutions and Arewa Youths for Peace and Security.
Executive Director, Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative, Prince Fidelis Nnadi made the remark in Abuja in a chat with newsmen.
He said this was necessary because of the overlapping mandate of the Nigerian Police Motor Traffic Division, Federal Road Safety Corps and Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO) which is impacting negatively on motorists.
Director of Publicity, Arewa Youths for Peace and Security, Sahihu Dantata Mohammed called on the minister to take a cue from Lagos State by establishing a license and plate number production plant to improve revenue generation and transport system for residents of the FCT.
