The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has assured residents of the territory of their safety, saying his administration will synergise with the armed forces and all other security agencies to improve security.
The minister gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the Defence Headquarters Garrison in his office.

According to a statement by the minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Anthony Ogunleye, Abuja has been secure due to the close working relationship among the heads of the various military formations and other security agencies in the FCT over the years.
“We will work very closely with you and your offices under the various task forces that you operate, as well as the main security committee which meets regularly.
“Usually, in that committee, as you know, we have the representative of the political leadership at the area councils level, the traditional leadership of the FCT Council of Chiefs, as well as the religious organisations as represented by CAN and the National Mosque Committee,” Malam Bello stated.
Speaking earlier, the Commander, Defence Headquarters Garrison, Maj Gen Preye Fakrogha, said he was in the FCTA on a familiarisation visit following his appointment.
He said he had visited other security agencies within the territory and pledged to work closely with all of them in line with the leadership philosophy of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
The call for the synergy followed panic by residents over their safety in recent months as kidnapping and other crimes have heightened in the capital city.
A Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) security advisory alerting its staff of the prevailing insecurity in the country further intensified the fear.
