FCT minister tasks traditional rulers on security

Mohammed, who gave the charge while speaking at the wedding of one of the sons of the traditional ruler of Gwargwada community, Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, in Kuje Area Council on Saturday, said there was need for the traditional rulers to always keep vigil and watch strange movements of people since they are custodian of their subjects.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Political matters, Senator Usman Jibrin Wowo, the minister said it is imperative for the traditional rulers, who are custodians of the society to be security conscious because of the insecurity in some part of the country as a result of activities of insurgents in the area.
He further stressed the need for residents of the community to continue to live in peace with one another irrespective of their tribal, religion and ethnic affiliation, saying no society can develop or make progress when there is no peace among its people.
“I want to call on residents of this community not to hesitate in reporting any suspicious movement in their domains to their respective village heads and traditional rulers so that the security agencies can be immediately notified,”he said.
The minister, while advising the bride and groom to be patient and live in peace with one another, urged residents of the area to continue to be law abiding citizens to the constituted authorities in their domains, adding that the FCT administration is determined to alleviate the suffering of residents of the FCT.
Responding, the Agabe of Gwargwada, Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, thanked the minister and other dignitaries as well as other traditional rulers for gracing the event out of their tight schedule.
The monarch assured the minister that the traditional rulers will continue to hold discussions to enlighten the stakeholders and youth as well as Fulani and farmers in their domain on the need to always live in peace with one another.
