The indigenous people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the umbrella of Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO) have declared support to the State Community Policing Advisory Committee (SCPAC) of the FCT.

The Minister of the FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, recently inaugurated SCPAC, to help in the fight against crime.

The President of AOIYEO, Commandant Isaac David, while speaking to journalists in Abuja, pledged the support of the group to the committee to enable it carry out its duties successfully.

Commandant David said, “Community policing is a collaborative effort between the police and the community, and we are ready to sensitise our people to volunteer information to the police to help in the fight against crime in our communities.

“Under the community policing ideal, community members and the police are expected to share responsibility for establishing and maintaining peaceful neighbourhoods. We believe that working together, the police and the community can accomplish a lot.”
