The FCT handball association has rolled out its plans in its bid to develop the sport in the Federal Capital Territory.
The interim chairman of the board, Ambassador Dr Edward Olutoke during a media parley said the board plans to make handball compete favourably with football in the FCT.

“This board is a child of necessity and I have been looking for alternative sports beyond football and this is an opportunity to bring out the fire in us to develop handball in the FCT.
“Our priority is the welfare of the players. They need to be taken care of and we plan to pay premium attention to seeing the players involved in competitions. We have placed the players on salaries and scholarships.
“We have put plans in motion to redesign and remodel the handball court at the Old Parade Ground and by next month, it will be completed. We have also launched the supporters club,” he said.
Meanwhile, the FCT handball coach, Hanatu Shuaibu Dada has died.
The Second Vice Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS), FCT passed away on Monday.
Dada popularly called “Mama Handball” was a level 14 civil servant with the FCT Ministry.
