FCT council chairmen tasked on children’s education

Chairmen of the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been urged to accord more priority to education sector so that children would have access to quality education in their respective councils.
Minister of Youths and Sport, Barrister Solomon Dalong, gave the charge while speaking at the formal grand reception organized for the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Audu Shaban Nizazo, as the second chief of Kwali chiefdom on Saturday.
He said the only legacy every parent need to leave for their children is education, urging the council chairmen in the territory to synergize and come up with a policy that would encourage parents to send their wards to school.
“In fact, we have nothing to leave behind as legacy for our children than education, because if the children have good education, nobody will come and play over their intelligence. But if they were left with only hoes, they may end up leaving their ancestral homes,” he said.
He advised the youth to be patient and always be obedient to their parents.
Commenting on the celebration of cultural/heritage day, the minister noted that the cultural displays by various ethnic groups were quite encouraging as some traditional cultures are still being displayed in today’s society.
On his part, the Etsu of Kwali/chairman of the Kwali council of chiefs, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo, said he was  elated, especially with the presence of some of his school mates at Government College Keffi at the grand reception.
The monarch, therefore, commended the minister  whom he said was his junior at the secondary for sparing time to attend the reception and urged residents of the council to unite and live in peace with one another.
Highlights of events were the conferment of traditional title on Senator Philip Aduda as (Sardauna of Kwali) Chairman of PDP in FCT, Alhaji Yahaya Y. Suleiman, as (Talban Kwali), former House of Reps member, Alhaji Isah Egah Dobi, as (Makama Babba of Kwali ) among others.
