The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has announced the dissolution of the AMAC Marshal, a local security outfits, created by the previous administration.
In its place, the council empowered the AMAC taskforce to take over from the AMAC Marshal and ensure internal security and assist technical partners in ensuring revenue generation to the council.
Addressing newsmen Tuesday at AMAC’s headquarters, after an Executive Council Meeting (ECM), the chairman of the council, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, who was represented by the Supervisory Councilor for Special Duties, Emmanuel Inyang, said the new taskforce would be trained for them to discharge their duties professionally.
He said: “We inherited some agencies and parastatals from the previous administration, including the AMAC Marshal. Indeed, they have been doing their best and we feel we should energize it the more and add to the security, considering what the Marshall was expected to be doing.
