Residents of Gwarinpa village, a community in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Wednesday, were the recipients of relief materials distributed by Bighomes – a real estate company.
The palliative distribution was part of the organisation’s contribution to the fight against the hardship the coronavirus pandemic have on indigents Nigerians says Bighomes Managing Director, Topsy Essien.
Essien says this is a way for them to give back to the FCT – their host community.
The organisation had also gone to communities in Jahi, Kado and Kubwa where they distributed food items; rice, garri, oil and noodles.
Essien explained that they are using the door-to-door strategy while distributing the items to avoid a situation where a crowd will amass, thereby increasing the chances of the spread of coronavirus.
In Gwarinpa, Bighomes distributed noodles and cash.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the leader of the team and Marketing Manager of Bighomes Real Estate, Bertha Obinna Kingsley said “Some, especially artisans who earn from their daily pay jobs have not been able to go out to work since the beginning of the lockdown, and we are glad to give our support by sharing food and relief funds to these people.”
She urged other private organisations to reach out to those in need to cushion the effect of the pandemic.
