The Federal Capital Territory U-16 team emerged winners of the 2022 Ramat Cup after a battling 1-0 win over hosts Kano in the final played on Saturday at the Kano Pillars stadium Sabon-Gari.

The boys from Abuja scored the only goal of the match in the second half.

In the semi-final losers match, Gombe defeated Ogun State 2-0 to end in third position.

Meanwhile, in the final of the 100 meters, 200m and 4 x100m race organised on the sidelines of the annual tournament, Kaduna state won all the races.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Kano State Deputy Governor and president of YSFON, Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, said the state would continue to support YSFON to achieve its goals.

He commended YSFON’s efforts in discovering and nurturing local talents for Kano and Nigeria as a whole.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Kabiru Lakwaya, reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting activities that would make the youths self-reliant.

Lakwaya said that anything to immortalise the late former Military Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed would be welcomed.

The commissioner also commended the participating teams on the discipline they exhibited throughout the tournament.
