The chairman of FCT basketball association, Frank Jituboh has bemoaned lack of support from the government towards the development of basketball in the nation’s capital.
In a chat with our correspondent, Jituboh said the association had been able to succeed despite the neglect of the government.
“I can also tell you that all the activities of the boards hasn’t been sponsored by government one dime, it’s been driven by the president himself and the sponsors people get, that is the direction sports should go in the country, I don’t think people should be waiting for funds from the government.
“For basketball we are very happy, we are moving ahead despite the distractions, but the train keeps moving and we are looking forward to another good year,” Jituboh said.
Jituboh, who led Nigeria’s delegation to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Manila, Philippines held in June further spoke about his re-election and his plans for the association which, according to him will be hinged on the directions of the sports council.
“Now we have been inaugurated as a board the councils have to tell us where their focus is, whether to host and win or host and lose, and we will come up with a plan in lines with what their dream is so for now it’s too early to be decisive,” he stated.
