FCET Umunze provost bags UNN alumni award

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State, has honoured the provost, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State, Dr. Tessy Okoli, with a distinguished alumni award.

She was honoured in recognition of her outstanding contributions towards the development of technical, vocational education and training (TVET) in the country.

The provost was honoured at a three-day international conference and homecoming organised recently by the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, UNN in collaboration with an international partner, Lucubrate Norway.

Others honoured with awards include, the provost, Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba, Dr J.E Anene Okeakwu and the Acting Vice Chancellor, Adamawa State University, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta.

Conferring the award on Okoli, the Dean, Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, UNN, Prof. Emmanuel Osinem, said Okoli’s award was in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments in the management of vocational and technical education in Nigeria.

Receiving the award, she commended the university for pioneering the establishment of the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education in sub-Saharan Africa.

Okoli was the 4th substantive provost of the college, and had served the institution in various capacities and also as a consultant on capacity building in the World Bank FADAMA 111 Project tagged Graduate Unemployment Youths Scheme (FADAMA GUYS) where 6000 youths were targeted for training in agricultural enterprise.
