The Provost, Federal College of Education Technical, Bichi, in Kano State; Professor Bashir Muhammad Fagge has raised alarm over encroachment and excavation of the institution’s permanent site by locals.
He called for an emergency response from authorities to tackle the situation which he noted was posing both ecological and security challenges to the college.

A statement issued by the college’s Public Relation Officer, Fatima Hassan Ahmad, quoted the provost as making the appeal when he led the college’s management delegation to the Minister of Education’s office on a courtesy call in Abuja.
According to the statement, the provost had revealed that, the acts by the locals have put the collage at a disadvantaged position and solicited the interventions of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as well as the Ecological Trust Fund to intervene through endorsement of the College’s request for a 10km road network that will assist in the control of erosion as well as borrow pits in the permanent site.
According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Arch. Sonny Echono who represented the minister commended the provost’s foresight for coming up with the proposal, adding that all requests presented by the college’s management were doable and in line with the agenda that is being pursued by the Federal Government.
