FC IfeanyiUbah derail Enyimba’s title challenge

Former African champions, Enyimba  missed the chance to shoot to second place on the 2021 NPFL table even as they fought back to draw 1-1 with relegation threatened FC IfeanyiUbah in the week 34 fixture played in Nnewi.

IfeanyiUbah’s Uzochukwu Ifejiofor gave his side the lead in the 30th minute and they looked to be running away with the maximum points as they frustrated all efforts by Enyimba to level scores.

However, concerted efforts by the ‘Nnewi millionaires’ to secure a rare victory over the ‘People’s elephants’ came crumbling in the 86th minute when Nabil Yarou headed in Anayo Iwuala’s freekick for the match to end in a 1-1 draw.

In other matches played yesterday, Dakkada FC were ruthless in their 4-0 demolition of relegation bound Adamawa United.

Dakkada got off the mark in the 20th minute through Austin Osayande before Sunday Awasa doubled the lead in the 28th minute.

As the game wore on, Jesan Uket made it 3-0 in the 86th minute while Rivio Ayemwenre finished the rout with a sublime goal in the 90th minute.

Kwara United also recorded a convincing 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Wikki Tourist to keep their hopes of a continental ticket alive.

Micheal Ohanu was the man of the match as he hit a hat-trick in the 19th, 44th and 48th minute before Chinedu Sunday’s consolation goal for the Tourists of Bauchi in the 59th minute.

With the conclusion of week 34 matches, Akwa United are leading the table with 64 points, followed by Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars in second and third position on 58 points.
